Cheetah Print Trends

By Jason Moorstedt

Cheetah print fabric has seen its share of ins and outs in the world of fashion, and its currently an in. At a time when standing out and being different is the norm, cheetah prints definitely fit the call. Bold and attention-grabbing, they can add zest to any look, but you dont want to overdo it, either.

Cheetah print makes a particular and strong sort of statement, so make sure you use it accordingly. Go for it if youre point is bold and different, but if youre hoping for calm and collected, try something else. Cheetah print isnt just about clothes, and here are some dos and donts for this animal pattern:

- Dont mix it with other animal print clothing, and be weary of having several prints in a room. Unless youre trying to give off a zoo vibe, youre better off keeping the animal print at a minimum.

- In terms of clothing, stick with a single cheetah print piece, such as a jacket or a pair of pants, or go with a few coordinating accessories: shoes, a scarf or bag, maybe a bangle.

- Believe it or not, cheetah prints can be classy and chic. Make sure the fabrics wildness is tamed by a sophisticated style. Go for a floor-length gown with simple jewelry, or a solid colored outfit with a sleek cheetah scarf.

- Remember that animals prints are not exactly calming pieces; but if youre trying to portray passion and exoticness in a room, consider cheetah print cushions against leather furniture. As always, just a piece here or there is more than enough.

- Cheetah prints also grace the surfaces of bags, scarves, shoes and bangles. You can even find cheetah covered journals, or make your own. These accessories make a great accented addition if youre into the full-blown cheetah phenomenon.

Finally, just because cheetah print is in doesnt mean its for you. Dont force yourself into trends because you think it will validate you; the best way to be validated is by going with trends and colors that feel right for you. - 15683
