Cystic Acne Can Be Cured

By Jim Bolding

The absolute worst type of acne is cystic acne; it attacks without warning and is highly difficult to get rid of. The road to a cystic acne treatment that works can be exhausting and fraught with disappointment. Everyone is different, and cystic acne can be the result of many different underlying causes.

Treating cystic acne with antibiotics is often the first course of action recommended by medical doctors. A twofold approach is often taken, combining a topical antibiotic with an oral version to combat the bacteria both without and within. The main problem with prolonged antibiotic therapy is the tendency for the body to become inured to it, rendering it ineffective over time.

The next sets of doctors are the dermatologists. They favor light therapy, lasers and chemical peels to strip your face down to basics and start over. Cystic acne may respond or it may not; that depends on the reason for the outbreak and what other steps you have taken.

There are hundreds of remedies and secret methods available that bill themselves as foolproof cystic acne treatment. Unfortunately, some of these are pure fabrication, made up by those who prey on the misfortunes of others. Some may have a shred of truth, but will only work for certain people - which is typical of acne treatments.

A time honored tradition when it comes to treating cystic acne is lancing. This involves piercing the nodules and draining the pus or serum away, and should only be done by a professional with sterile instruments. Many doctors advise against this, as it leaves what amounts to fresh wounds open to infection.

In 'Olden Times' the cure for cystic acne might have been as simple as rubbing tomato pulp on your face or washing it down with cider vinegar or even whisky. Lemon juice or honey and a crushed aspirin could be blended and used as a spot treatment for nodular acne. Again, whether or not they work for you depend on too many factors to mention.

A more cutting edge remedy requires a bit of self-discipline - a diet is imposed and herbal pills are introduced. A flushing of the system is usually expected, to clear toxins from the blood, and haywire hormones will be calmed and tamed. Celebrities may tout an acne clearing cream or rinse as being the optimal solution, but do a little checking just in case!

When it comes to cystic acne treatment, waiting for treatment to work can be the hardest part. You can speed recovery by eating healthy foods that are high in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to boost your immune system. Remember that natural treatments take time to work, and be patient!

Cystic acne and inflamed nodules don't have to be the bane of your existence. Treating cystic acne is never a walk in the park, but with patience an answer will present itself. Cystic acne IS curable in the huge majority of patients; you just have to hang in there and stick with whatever course of action you choose for at least four to eight weeks! - 15683
