Do's and Don'ts if You are Trying to Get Rid of Acne

By Marcel Stephenson

It is not fun to have acne, and it affects millions of teens every year and the number is growing. If you make these mistakes treating your acne, you will make your acne worse and it can remain a problem for you well into adulthood.

1. Squeezing the Pimples

Squeezing your pimples is definitely out. You could be shoving puss back into the pores, so instead of coming out, it's going back in. This makes the affected area worse and it also spreads bacteria which causes more infection and aggravates the problem.

2. Scrubbing

If you scrub the affected area you will cause open, oozing sore. These will take much longer to heals, and are much more prone to get infected. So don't scrub areas that are affected by acne.

The harder you scrub the worse the acne will get, the best is to use a mild treatment. Mild, non-allergic soap is the best. Use it 3 times a day with a soft cloth, this will ensure that the affected area is kept clean without re-infecting the area.

3. Stop using Make-up

You have to stop using make-up for a while, because it clogs your pores, these areas need to breathe to heal.

4. Medication

Use over the counter medication with caution as they could be too harsh for your skin and cause irritation. Don't overdo the medication because it can make the condition worse.

To summarize, be careful with creams and ointments, if they are too harsh they can make you acne worse. Make sure you choose treatments and products for your skin. Don't squeeze your pimples, even if it's difficult not to, it will only make it worse, and give you scars. If you suffer from very severe acne, it might be best to see a dermatologist. - 15683
