Urich, founder of Hr Watches magazine, joins Debaufre watches.

Debaufre watches, a U.S.-based family owned Swiss watch company, forms a partnership with the original owner and editor of Hr:Watches Magazine, Joe Urich. The partnership, which begins in Jan of 2009, enriches the Debaufre team by bringing Urich's expertise and insight to the business model of Debaufre, thereby creating a deeper personal connection with watch enthusiasts. "Urich adds a tremendous value to Debaufre because of his history of publishing an uncensored opinion about the watch industry in Hr:Watches Magazine, this in turn created a connection with watch enthusiasts due to his honesty. Thanks to the help and support of our customers, Debaufre has grown to a much larger company faster than we expected. We believe the partnership with Urich will boost our reach even further and improve customer satisfaction by bringing a celebrated and recognized voice to the team." says Alldaron, VP of Debaufre, as he sips on a Vodka Martini.

Urich founded Hr:Watches Magazine in the mid 1990's, pouring forth from the pages he published an uncensored opinion of the world of Swiss timepieces. Watch collectors and casual enthusiasts alike welcomed the magazine as a fresh approach. Of course Urich shook things up, showing no favoritism, sharing with his readers the benefits and shortcomings of the watch industry as seen from his point of view.

Mid 2005, Debaufre launched in the U.S., focusing on selling via the internet and establishing brand recognition before approaching watch retailers for mass distribution. "There are plenty of amazing companies catering to the retailers", says Alldaron, "and we wanted to focus on the consumer with direct selling." Against all odds and faced with skepticism for launching Debaufre into an unproven online marketplace, which of course went against all conventional wisdom, Debaufre proved this marketing concept is a formula for success.

Online stores are the future, the days of retail stores for Swiss watches are slowly coming to an end, buyers realize that direct sales is the way to go, just look at Amazon or Tiger Direct. Debaufre has proven itself as the major brand catering to the Online Generation and has built a tremendous following, receiving tons of repeat customers and word of mouth referrals. The Online Generation is a new type of consumer, with new habits and a new mentality and they choose online sales for their Swiss watch needs.

All of this attention and criticism only proves that Debaufre's approach, the new concept of online branding and direct sales, works and is a sure sign of the future of the watch industry.
