All About Curly Weaves

By Marquetta Breslin

Every day, women with all different types of hair flock to beauty salons to change their style. Many women with straight hair want curly hair, and most women with curly hair want straight hair. There are many women that are looking for a natural style. So many women opt for different kinds of weaves to achieve a curly look that is full of life, lift, and bounce.

If you have straight hair, you have probably tried curling your hair, but with no luck. Instead, try a curly weave! Curly weaves can be bonded or sewn-in, just like any other weave. The Bohemian curl type of hair works well for some women, but you want to make sure you get 100% high-quality human hair if you plan on wearing your style for more than 4 weeks. Why? The quality of your hair determines a lot of things. The lower the quality of the hair you use, the more likely you'll find yourself dealing with a mess of mats and tangles.

Once your curly weave is in place, you must be certain to take proper care of your weave. Not doing so can result in your curly weave losing its beautiful appearance. Here are some tips to keep in mind when caring for your curly weave:

1. Before going to bed, wrap your curly weave with a silk scarf. Remove the scarf once you wake up. This will help keep your style in place while you're sleeping.

2. Curly weaves require maintenance, so ask your stylist how to care for your new curly weave. Always follow their instructions to the letter. You may want to double-check with him or her on what to do with the natural hair left out of the curly weave. If your curls are the right size, you may want to braid or twist the remaining hair.

3. Always keep a light oil sheen spray on hand while you have a curly weave in place. If you ever notice your curls becoming limp, or your curly weave loses some of its shine, just dab a little of that spray on to give life back to your curly weave.

As always, a curly weave should only be completed by a salon professional with experience in doing curly weaves. Since there are a number of ways to do a curly weave, make sure to talk with your stylist about your particular hair care needs before completing the style.

You should have your curly weave removed only by a professional stylist to ensure the hair does not get tangled or matted. If you plan on removing the style yourself, take extra care not to over-handle the hair in order to keep it from tangling. - 15683
