Mineral Makeup and the Benefits of Natural Cosmetics

By Makeup Girl

The latest popular trend in cosmetics is mineral makeup. The idea of mineral makeup is over thirty years old, but it wasn't until the last few years that this new trend has begun to take over. Countless cosmetics companies have developed their own lines of this makeup whose ingredients come from the earth's natural minerals.

As buyers, we must beware of imitations that claim to have all natural ingredients, but dont. As with any popular trend, there are companies out there that are trying to make a quick buck, but arent offering the true product. In truth, any makeup that contains minerals can be referred to as mineral makeup, but you want to be sure that you are getting the pure thing.

Ive used a loose powder for my foundation for the past year and I have loved the benefits it offers. The ingredients from nature are better for your skin than traditional makeup. While some doctors have differing opinions on this, all I can do is go off of my own experience. I've just loved my mineral foundation. I feel like it really does allow my skin to breathe more which is always healthier for the skin.

Just make sure that you are careful about checking the ingredients of any mineral product you try. If a product isn't all natural, you may experience skin irritation, or breakouts, instead of enjoying the benefits that most customers have experienced with mineral makeup. Read the ingredients carefully and be wary of any dyes, preservatives or chemicals. Bismuth Oxychorlide is one example of an ingredient that a lot of imitators use in their products. It is technically a "mineral", but it is not a natural one and can cause skin irritation, rashes and itching.

The nice thing about the coverage is that you have control over how heavy you want it to be. It can be applied heavily, without looking thick or clumpy. This is really beneficial for women with acne or scarring. The coverage also lasts a long time so you wont have to worry about it wearing off throughout the day.

Another plus is the SPF protection the makeup provides from the sun's harmful rays. When it comes to the sun and your skin, you can never be too careful. The sun will increase wrinkle lines and sun spots on your face, aging your skin before its time. I use a lotion for my face that has an SPF 15 and then apply the loose powder giving my skin added protection from the sun.

I've experienced such a drastic improvement from my traditional foundation by using mineral makeup. I would definitely give it a try and see what you think for yourself. You may find that you love it as much as I do! - 15683
