Dr. Oz and Acai Berry Health Benefits

Dr. Oz is said to be the heart surgeon with a big heart. He is said to be one of the most accomplished heart surgeons of our time. He was born from Turkish parents, and his heritage is of utmost importance to him. He has become extremely well known from the Oprah Winfrey show and his recommendation of the acai berry. Dr. Oz and acai berry seem to go hand in hand.

The Turkish diet which in past years was healthy and filled with fresh produce and grains has changed throughout the years. Turkish people have added meats, sugar, processed foods and are seeing more heart ailments. Dr. Oz is interested in getting the Turkish people back on track, and healthier eating patterns.

Dr. Oz has proclaimed the acai berry to be a superfood. The acai berry grows on a specific palm tree deep in the rainforests of Brazil. Native Brazilians have been plucking this little fruit from the trees for centuries. It is receiving great acclaim presently in the United States and around the world for the past five years.

Being that the little purple fruit is extremely fragile, it must be freeze dried or flash frozen shortly after harvesting. It is filled with vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, protein and a huge amount of antioxidants. Many products have been developed from the acai berry with many added new flavors. Health bars, powders, drinks and supplement capsules are just a few of the vast growing selection.

Mentioned in the news frequently is Dr. Oz and the acai berry. Even though there has been proof of the nutritional value of acai berries, there are still many questions unanswered about their ability to actually shed pounds.
